Danish ferry and haulage operator DFDS has abandoned its bid to acquire the international transport assets of Turkish firm Ekol Logistics.
In April, DFDS announced it had agreed a €500m ($545m) deal to acquire Ekol’s “overland transport network between Europe and Turkey”, as it sought to take advantage of the growth of nearshoring manufacturing in Turkey and reduce its corporate reliance on ferry revenue by growing its logistics division.

Danish ro-ro and logistics operator DFDS has confirmed that it’s talking to Turkish transport group Ekol Logistics about acquiring its international road haulage business.
No price has yet been put on the possible deal, partly due to the way corporate acquisitions work in Turkey.

Major rail hub, ro-ro terminal and cross-docking facility planned for North Sea Port

Belgian groupage operator and freight forwarder Transuniverse Forwarding has launched a project with Turkish multimodal operator Ekol Logistics to build a 40ha multimodal facility at the North Sea Port.
The port is a stretch of 60km of cargo handling facilities along the river Scheldt, combining The Netherlands’ Zeeland Seaports and the Belgian port of Ghent. The two port authorities completed the cross-border merger at the beginning of 2018.

Ekol Logistics added Spain into its network in 2014 in order to enable its customers access to intermodal solutions.

Fast-growing multimodal Turkish logistics firm Ekol has bought a 65% stake in Europa Multipurpose Terminals (EMT), the ro-ro terminal operator in the Italian port of Trieste, its main European gateway.
Ekol’s ro-ro shipping subsidiary, Alternative Transport, operates four weekly services between the Haydarpasa terminal in Istanbul to Trieste, and one a week to the French Mediterranean port of Sete.
Trieste has also acted as its intermodal hub for Europe, with 44 weekly train services ...

Ekol Logistics and VIIA open a new train connection

Ekol and VIIA have announced the start of a new service based on one shuttle connection per week from port of Sète to Noisy-le-Sec in Paris area. The train departs from Sète on Wednesday morning and arrives in Paris on Thursday at 7 am.
