The disparity between IATA and ICAO’s baseline figures for calculating air cargo emissions could be resulting in false sustainability data, making passenger operations look cleaner and contributing to global warming.
Calculating emissions from a given flight is done by dividing fuel burn by ...

According to sources, most top carriers – anecdotally as many as 10 or more – have been asked to show why they had failed to comply with India’s national Goods and Services Tax (GST) rules that came into effect in July 2017.  Sources put the combined tax ...

The all-powerful airline association is forcing large numbers of small forwarders to stump up, or guarantee, 20% of their air cargo revenues before they can use CASS to pay airlines. And they are very cross about this.
CASS? Cross? What?
Yes cross, but not crass. CASS is IATA’s Cargo Accounts Settlements System.
Sounds like a lot – how much has IATA lost in ...

Forwarders that have failed to get satisfactory responses from IATA have turned to TIACA and FIATA to help, as well as national competition authorities.
Glyn Hughes, secretary general of TIACA, said he was concerned that the IATA process was unfair, and could harm industry growth.
“CASS was first launched in the late 1970s ...

New offices, new company names, or new locations – even for established forwarders – could result in the need to give IATA 20% of air cargo sales turnover in deposits, or expensive bank guarantees.
IATA did not respond to The Loadstar’s question ...

The airline association has been accused of anti-competitive and unfair commercial practices, and could face legal action as forwarders look to complain to national competition authorities.
The problems stem from an October 2022 change in IATA’s resolutions that means CASS associates are now obliged to provide financial guarantees to be able to access the ...
