Danish ferry and haulage operator DFDS has abandoned its bid to acquire the international transport assets of Turkish firm Ekol Logistics.
In April, DFDS announced it had agreed a €500m ($545m) deal to acquire Ekol’s “overland transport network between Europe and Turkey”, as it sought to take advantage of the growth of nearshoring manufacturing in Turkey and reduce its corporate reliance on ferry revenue by growing its logistics division.

UK regulator delays GXO’s Wincanton takeover, due to ‘competition concerns’

The UK’s Competition and Markets Authority (CMA), the country’s chief competition regulator, has delayed GXO’s takeover of Wincanton.
The CMA said today it had completed its ‘Phase 1’ investigation into the deal and concluded that it “could reduce competition in the supply of mainstream contract logistics services in the UK”.
GXO has been given five working days to “submit proposals to address the CMA’s concerns.

Harim would submit new bid if HMM came up for sale again

The chairman of Korea’s Harim Group has confirmed it would submit a new bid for HMM if the carrier was put up for sale again, according to Alphaliner today.
State-owned Korea Development Bank (KDB) and Korea Ocean Business Corp (KOBC) retained majority control of the carrier after the sale of their combined 57.9% stake in HMM to Harim fell through in February.
